The Evolution Of Free Music Downloads

by Scott McKenzie

Obtaining music from the Internet has come a long way in a short time. It was only a couple of years ago that music companies and artists were upset about websites that offered music downloads.

With sites like Napster that allowed free music sharing and downloading becoming available, music sales in stores was affected as users who would normally refrain from doing anything illegal started using these sites to get their music.

The trend got so much popularity that sales of records went downhill and the artists lost millions of dollars. The music industry rose from that crisis and websites like Napster were charged of stealing music and thus eventually forced to terminate their businesses.

Fighting Music piracy, Napster and other websites similar are now allowing a 100% legal music downloads and still free to join. This is the future of free, legal music downloading.

The ability to download legal music is increasing in popularity due to new MP3 players. This digital revolution is what has driven the ability to purchase music that can be downloaded legally. There is fear of prosecution and that makes people believe they can no longer get music for free. This perception has led to an increase in the industry. Although some people still attempt to download music illegally they often face the music.

Many sites are available and they offer music for free. But you may find that you get what you pay for. Free music often comes with a price. It is common for the music to contain adware, spyware, and viruses that could permanently disable your computers. When you download from these sites you put yourself at risk and could even have charges brought against you for pirating music.

Dont put yourself or your computer at unnecessary risk, only download legal music from reputable sites.
