The Top 7 Movies For Kids

by Trevor Allmanson

Lately, I have been babysitting my nieces and nephews with some regularity. Not being a parent myself, I feel more confident watching movies I have pre-viewed rather than letting the kids watch television, we watch movies. These are my favorite seven family movies.

1) Monsters Inc. ” The stories play to both adults and children in this beautifully animated movie. The monsters turn out to be the good guys too!

2) Toy Story ” This story has a wonderful underlying theme. Andy has to learn to deal with the new kid in town, who seems to be taking his place in the heart of his owner.

3) Finding Nemo ” Is a story about how children need to be left to make their own decisions as part of growing up. The characters and story are well developed, and the animation is beautiful.

4) The Little Mermaid ” This movie may have come out decades ago, but the animation is still wonderful. And the music gets everyone up on their feet.

5) Babe ” A pig who thinks he is a dog. This is the classic story of the underachiever moved to work towards greatness. This movie has something to appeal to all age groups.

6) Night at the Museum ” As a child, I was always intrigued with museums, and I especially loved the Natural History Museum. The idea that the creatures exhibited there can come to life is thrilling for most children.

7) The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe ” This is a story of courage in the face of adversity. What amazes me most is that the lion is entirely computer generated!
