The Beatles Remastered Stereo CD Box Set

The Beatles in Stereo CD Set was made available in September it instantly became the standard for The Beatles classic albums.

These remastered stereo mixes sound far superior to the old CDs from the 80s. When one compares these new remasters to the older discs it’s like the old CDs are under a pile of wet blankets while the new remastered CDs sound very clear so that all of the instrumentation and vocals punch through the mix like never before.

The Beatles Remastered Stereo Box Set isn’t the only Beatles box set that came out in ‘09 but it has been the biggest seller because it appeals to the biggest set of Beatles fans. The Beatles Mono Box Set is great too but it appeals mostly to hardcore fans who need to listen to the mono mixes (because the mono mixes are what the band themselves worked on) than to an music fan. While I will agree with the “purists” that there are some songs that sound better in mono than in stereo (particularly some of the pre Sgt Pepper songs in my opinion) all things considered I believe the stereo set does sound best.

The fab thing about The Beatles in Stereo Remastered CD Box Set is that it lets you to acquire The Beatles complete’62-70 catalog with just one purchase and considering the extremely high quality of almost all of their CDs, it makes the most sense to buy all of The Beatles albums at once rather than buying some of them and getting the rest later.

Beyond the wonderful genre defining music included in this box set there are some cool visual bits, most obviously the DVD with- mini documentaries on it (one for each studio album.) Along with this mini documentary DVD there are extensive liner notes for each album (there is some excellent information in there, particularly for new Beatles fans) and some interesting previously unpublished pictures.

I’m such a huge Beatles lover that I have bought (or am planning on buying) The Beatles in Stereo Box Set, The Beatles Mono Box Set, The Beatles Apple USB, and The Beatles Rock Band Game. But if I had to choose just one of these items, it would be the complete stereo box because it is the best hear their legendary music and after all, it is the music that made them the most legendary band of all time.
